Yolo County Fairgrounds, Woodland CA, Memorial Weekend
Trial Chairs: Sandy Zajkowski and Karen O”Neil
Trial Secretary:
Kathie Leggett
DEFINITELY email the chairs or the secretary with your trial feedback, we’re already making plans for next year!!

Katy Robertson took photos!  Check them out here!

Another one in the books!  It looks like we been doing this big memorial weekend event annually since 2005, making this its 15th year (forgetting 2020 entirely), with most of the original cast and crew still involved: you are all awesome!  It was stinkin’ hot but everyone was a trouper and a sweetheart (or tried to be!), agility people are the best.  This was our first time doing it at Woodland, and we’d love feedback on whether to keep it in Woodland or go back to Dixon next year.  Also, thanks to our crack scoring crew, the results are already posted on the website (below)!
Now for the THANK YOU’S!  On Monday over the microphone, we briefly gave a shout out to our key workers who are out in the rings, keeping the trial running.  But that list is only a fraction of the people who make this trial truly excellent and a delight to work for.  We’d like to take this opportunity now to thank our out-in-the-ring AND our behind-the-scenes key workers who made everything work SO seamlessly and invisibly and brilliantly and with good humor:

  • BEST JUDGES EVER Jan Skurzynski and Dale Mohoney!
  • Secretary for life Kathie Leggett and RV/facilities/everything else czar Sandy Zajkowski
  • Vendor czar and person-we-went-to-for all-matters-covid-and-health Karen O’Neil
  • BEST SCORING TEAM EVER Mary Roseberry, Marlene Jurkovich, Becky Hardenberg
  • Tireless awards boss lady Pat White and her elf Julia O’Rourke
  • LUNCH LADY who single-handedly kept us all on our feet for 4 days: Katrina Anderson and her elf Debby Thompson
  • TRACS info booth and PR specialist Debby Thompson
  • ICE LADY even when there was an ice shortage in town: Katherine Lai
  • AMAZING RAFFLE lady: Penny Larson
  • PARADE OF VETERANS, video, also memorial video, also ribbons and announcer Penny Larson and her tech support Kathie Leggett.  This is SUCH a great way to remember our senior canine loved ones as well as canine loved ones passed.  (Did you all check out the videos of this on the TRACS home page?)
  • TRAILER managers for life (even though one stayed home to be with his wife whose back surgery was a success by the way, and the other coming back from knee replacement!): Jim Aitkin and Jan Davis and newly recruited elf Harley Frazee.
  • AND finally but NOT least, our crack team of those key workers out on our “front lines”:
    • EVERYONE that came to help with set-up thursday, for whom this was actually a FIVE DAY TRIAL, including our trailer managers and set-up expert Katrina Parkinson
    • superhuman chief course builders Roger Ly and Tracy Duncan, all four days, and their builder pool Cathy Beam, Jennifer Eichstedt, Katrina Parkinson, Rosalie Ball, Beverly Morgan Lewis, Carol Newman, Cindy Macklin.
    • superhuman crew chiefs who do all the jobs when no one signs up for them AND run their dogs – we should always be thinking about how they end up stuck with the work if the rest of us don’t volunteer!  Kaye Juhl, Vickey Meyer, Karen Johnson, Gail Gomes, all four days!
    • secret grounds people who were so effective that we didn’t even know they were there but we sure would have noticed if they weren’t!  Kelly Chaffin, Mary Palumbo, Mary Phoenix, Linda Greene, Bev Serafica, Carol Bowers, Karen Schwartz
    • our fulltimers who make it so our rings run even if no one signs up: Ginger McMullen, Liz Smith, Kate Marie, Sandra Walther (newbie who soaked everything up like a sponge!), Mary Palumbo, Georgia Demetre, Mary Phoenix, Jenny Cuccinello, Betsy Ramsey – THANK YOU FOR GIVING US YOUR HOLIDAY WEEKEND!
    • also thank you to fairgrounds employee Bart who brought out the giant lawn sprinklers on Sunday evening!
    • OH YES also teardown on monday afternoon was AMAZING, took an hour, THAT is the cat’s meow! Thank you thank you!

ISC OVERALL RESULTS

The ISC (International Sweepstakes Class) competition at TRACS is a qualifying event for the AKC World Team Tryouts.  Any dog may enter and jump at their regular jump height, however, dogs that enter/run at the World Team Tryout Heights of 12, 16, and 24 are eligible to earn a direct invitation to the event. To do that, the team must have one clear round and one round with 5 faults or less.  Additionally, this high combined winners in each jump height earn a cash prize as well.  They do have to post a score in each class, so any dog with an “E” (off course in ISC terms or three refusals), is not eligible for the high combined.

The High Combined winners are:

  • 8″ – no entries
  • 12″ – None (no 12″ jumping dog had scores in both rounds)
  • 16″ – Marcy Mantell & Stripe
  • 20″ – Katrina Parkinson & Trillian (preferred dogs are scored in their regular jump height).
Trillian was the ONLY dog in any jump height to run two clear rounds.
  • 24″ – Sally Connell & Kit.
By meeting the required “one clear round and one round with 5 or less faults”,
Sally & Kit are on their way to the 2022 AKC World Team Tryouts next May!
    Congratulations to them.
